Authority refers to the legitimate power or control that individuals or institutions have over others within a specific context.
Think of authority as a traffic light. Just like how a traffic light has the power to control and direct the flow of vehicles, authority has the power to control and direct people's actions within a certain system.
Legitimacy: The belief or acceptance by individuals that those in authority have the right to exercise their power.
Power: The ability of an individual or group to influence or control others.
Hierarchy: A system where individuals or groups are ranked according to their level of authority, with higher levels having more power and control.
