Definition

A medium refers to the substance or material through which a wave travels.

Imagine you are swimming in a pool filled with water. The water is the medium that allows your body to move and create waves as you swim.

Sound: A type of wave that requires a medium to travel through, such as air, water, or solids.

Light: An electromagnetic wave that can travel through empty space or various mediums like air or glass.
