Zionism

Definition

Zionism is a Jewish nationalist movement that has had as its goal the creation and support of a Jewish national state in Palestine, the ancient homeland of the Jews.

Analogy

Imagine if all your friends who love basketball decide to create their own basketball team and even build their own court to play on. That’s similar to what Zionists wanted - a place where Jews could be together and govern themselves.
