Confederacy

Definition

The Confederacy refers to the Confederate States of America, a collection of 11 Southern states that seceded from the United States in 1860-61 and fought against the Union during the American Civil War.

Analogy

If you think about a school sports team deciding they don't like how things are run and breaking away to form their own league - that's kind of what happened with the Confederacy. They didn't agree with certain rules (like abolition) so they decided to start their own team (country).
