Imperialism: The policy or practice of extending a country's power and influence through colonization or military force. Imperialist ambitions played a significant role in sparking tensions that led to World War One.
Trench Warfare: A type of combat where opposing forces dig deep trenches facing each other for protection. This method was widely used during World War One due to its defensive advantages.
