World War One

Definition

World War One, also known as the Great War, was a global conflict that took place from 1914 to 1918. It involved many of the world's leading powers organized into two opposing alliances: the Allies and the Central Powers.

Analogy

Think of World War One like an intense multiplayer online game where different teams (countries) form alliances to compete against each other. The stakes are high, and the outcome affects everyone in the game (world).

Allies: In World War One, this refers to countries including France, Russia, Britain and later Italy and United States who opposed the Central Powers.

Central Powers: This alliance primarily consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria during World War One.

Treaty of Versailles: The peace treaty signed on June 28th 1919 between Germany and Allied powers that officially ended World War One.
