The Korean War was a military conflict between North Korea (supported by China and Russia) and South Korea (supported by UN forces primarily from the United States). It took place from 1950-1953.
Imagine if your house were divided into two rooms - one room controlled by your older sibling who likes rock music (North Korea), supported by your cousins (China & Russia), while you prefer pop music (South Korea) with backing from your parents (UN & US). Both sides are trying to play their music throughout the entire house - this struggle is similar to what happened during Korean War.
38th Parallel: The line of latitude that separates North and South Korea, established at the end of World War II.
Armistice Agreement: An agreement signed in 1953 to end the Korean War. It was not a permanent peace treaty, but rather a ceasefire that is technically still in effect today.
