Julius Nyerere

Definition

Julius Nyerere was a Tanzanian anti-colonial activist, politician, and political theorist. He served as the first Prime Minister of independent Tanganyika (1961) and later became the first President of Tanzania (1964-1985). He is known for his African socialist policies, collectively known as Ujamaa.
