Camels are large, desert-dwelling mammals that have been used for centuries as a mode of transportation and for carrying goods across long distances, especially in arid regions.
Think of camels as the semi-trucks of the ancient world. Just like semi-trucks transport goods across countries today, camels were used to transport goods across deserts where other modes of transportation were not feasible.
Dromedary Camel: A type of camel with one hump, native to the Middle East and the Horn of Africa. They are known for their endurance in extreme conditions.
Bactrian Camel: A type of camel with two humps, native to Central Asia. Unlike dromedaries, they can withstand extremely cold temperatures.
Caravan: A group of people traveling together, often on a trade expedition. Caravans were typically formed for mutual assistance and protection in deserts or other hostile environments.
