Stratified Sampling

Definition

Stratified sampling is a sampling method where the population is divided into distinct subgroups (strata) based on certain characteristics. Then, random samples are taken from each stratum proportionally to its size.

Analogy

Imagine you have different flavors of ice cream available at an event. To get an accurate representation of everyone's favorite flavor, you divide people into groups based on age and then randomly select individuals from each group. This way, you ensure that all age groups are represented fairly.
