A secure base refers to the concept in attachment theory where the caregiver provides a safe and reliable environment from which the child can explore their surroundings.

Analogy

Consider a secure base as your home. Just as you venture out into the world knowing you have a safe place (home) to return to, children use their caregivers as a "secure base" for exploration.
