Comparison-Contrast

Definition

Comparison-contrast refers to analyzing similarities (comparison) and differences (contrast) between two or more subjects, ideas, or texts. It involves examining the characteristics and qualities of each subject to highlight their similarities and differences.

Analogy

Comparing and contrasting is like creating a Venn diagram. You put one subject in one circle, another subject in the other circle, and where they overlap, you write down their shared traits. The areas outside the overlap represent their differences.
