Definition

Democratic governance refers to the system of government in which power is vested in the people, either directly or through elected representatives, and decisions are made based on majority rule while respecting minority rights.

Analogy

Imagine a school's student council where all students have the opportunity to vote for their representatives. The decisions made by the student council are based on what most students want, but they also make sure to consider the needs and opinions of every individual.
