Physiology is a branch of biology that studies how organisms function or work. It looks at how various body systems interact to help an organism survive and thrive.
Imagine physiology as a car mechanic who understands how every part of your car works together. Just like how a mechanic knows what makes your engine run or brakes stop, physiologists understand how our bodies' systems work together for us to live healthily.
Homeostasis: This refers to an organism's ability to maintain stable internal conditions despite changes in its environment.
Metabolism: This is the set of life-sustaining chemical reactions in organisms which includes breaking down food for energy and building up new cell material.
Neurophysiology: This is a sub-discipline within physiology focusing specifically on the functioning of nervous systems.
