Monarchies refer to systems of government where a single ruler, usually a king or queen, holds supreme power and inherits the position through bloodline succession.
Think of monarchies as being like the lead singer in a band. They have all the attention and make most of the decisions while others follow their lead.
Absolutism: A form of monarchy where the ruler has complete control over all aspects of government without any checks or balances.
Divine Right of Kings: The belief that monarchs are chosen by God and therefore have absolute authority to rule.
Absolute Monarchy: A system of government where the monarch has unlimited power and is not bound by any laws or constitution.
