Definition

Independence movements are collective actions taken by citizens or groups within a country seeking independence from an existing nation-state.

Analogy

Imagine you're part of an orchestra but you feel your unique instrument isn't being appreciated or heard properly. You decide to form your own band where your instrument can shine - this is similar to what happens in independence movements when regions or groups want recognition or autonomy.
