English Reformation

Definition

The English Reformation was a series of events in 16th-century England by which the Church of England broke away from the authority of the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church.

Analogy

Imagine if your favorite band decided they didn't want their music label's control anymore so they started their own label. That's kind of what happened with the English Reformation - instead of following Rome's lead (the music label), they created their own church (their own label).
