Transpiration is the process by which plants release water vapor into the atmosphere through their leaves. It helps to cool down the plant and also plays a role in transporting nutrients from the roots to other parts of the plant.
Think of transpiration like sweating for plants. Just like how we sweat to cool down our bodies, plants release water vapor through their leaves to regulate their temperature.
Evaporation: The process by which water changes from a liquid state to a gaseous state, usually from bodies of water or moist surfaces.
Stomata: Small openings on the surface of leaves that allow gases, including water vapor, to enter and exit the plant.
Xylem: A type of tissue in plants that transports water and dissolved nutrients from the roots up to other parts of the plant.
