Definition

Representative democracy is a system of government where citizens elect representatives who make decisions on their behalf.

Analogy

Imagine you and your classmates need to choose someone to represent your class for student council. You all vote for one person who will then attend meetings and make decisions that reflect the interests of your entire class.
