Bond strength

Definition

Bond strength is the measure of energy required to break a bond between two atoms in a molecule. It directly influences the stability and reactivity of molecules in organic chemistry.

Analogy

Think of bond strength as the level of trust and cooperation between teammates in a relay race; the stronger their collaboration, the faster and more efficiently they can pass the baton, symbolizing how tightly atoms are held together and how much energy it would take to separate them.

Related terms
