A smartphone is a mobile device that combines cellular and mobile computing functions into one unit. They are distinguished from feature phones by their stronger hardware capabilities and extensive mobile operating systems, which facilitate wider software, internet, and multimedia functionality.

Analogy

Think of smartphones as the Swiss Army knives of technology. Just like how a Swiss Army knife has multiple tools like a blade, screwdriver, can opener all in one compact device, a smartphone combines multiple functionalities such as calling, texting, web browsing, camera etc., all in one handheld device.
