Operation Desert Storm

Definition

Operation Desert Storm was the combat phase of the Gulf War, launched in January 1991 by coalition forces to liberate Kuwait from Iraqi occupation.

Analogy

If Desert Shield was like setting up your chess pieces defensively, then Desert Storm is like going on the offensive. It's when you start moving your pieces strategically to checkmate your opponent (liberate Kuwait).
