Nueces River

Definition

The Nueces River is a river located in the U.S. state of Texas, which was historically significant as the disputed border between Texas and Mexico prior to the Mexican-American War.

Analogy

Think of the Nueces River like a line drawn in the sand at recess. Two groups of kids (Texas and Mexico) are arguing over who gets to play on what side. This dispute leads to a bigger conflict, just like it did with the Mexican-American War.
