Normandy Peninsula

Definition

The Normandy Peninsula is a region in northern France that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean. It's most famous for the D-Day invasion during World War II when Allied forces landed on its beaches to begin the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi control.

Think of the Normandy Peninsula like your school's front door. Just as students enter through this door to start their day, Allied forces used this peninsula as an entry point to start their mission of liberating Europe.
