Definition

The New Deal was a series of programs, public work projects, financial reforms, and regulations enacted by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in response to needs for relief, reform and recovery from The Great Depression.

Analogy

Imagine you're playing a video game where your character is stuck in an impossible level (The Great Depression). Then suddenly you get an update (The New Deal) which provides new tools and power-ups to help you overcome challenges.
