The Food Administration was a U.S. federal agency created during WWI to manage the wartime supply, conservation, distribution and transportation of food.
Imagine you're planning a big party with limited resources. You'd be like the Food Administration, figuring out how much food is needed, encouraging guests not to waste food (conservation), deciding where it goes (distribution), and making sure it gets there on time (transportation).
Rationing: A system controlling the amount of goods people can buy when these are in short supply during wartime.
Victory Gardens: Private gardens which American citizens were encouraged to grow during both World Wars as part of their contribution towards supporting troops overseas.
Hooverizing: Voluntary rationing measures introduced by Herbert Hoover during WWI.
