Contraception

Definition

Contraception refers to the methods or devices used to prevent pregnancy. It's a broad term that encompasses various techniques, including hormonal pills, intrauterine devices (IUDs), condoms, and sterilization.

Analogy

Think of contraception like a goalie in a soccer game. The goalie's job is to prevent the opposing team (in this case, sperm) from scoring a goal (fertilizing an egg). Just as there are different types of goalies with different skills and strategies, there are also different types of contraception with varying levels of effectiveness.
