Definition

Central Government refers to the national government which holds supreme power in a nation. In the U.S., it's responsible for national defense, foreign policy, and regulating interstate trade.

Analogy

The Central Government is like the principal of a school. Just as the principal sets rules for all students and teachers within the school, the central government sets laws that apply to all states within a country.
