Think of American Imperialism like a popular kid in school (the U.S.) who starts setting trends. Soon, other kids (countries) start dressing like them, listening to the same music they do, and even adopting their slang.
Monroe Doctrine: A principle of US policy originated by President James Monroe in 1823 that any intervention by external powers in politics of Americas is potentially hostile act against US.
Manifest Destiny: The 19th-century doctrine or belief that expansion of US throughout American continents was both justified and inevitable.
Open Door Policy: A policy proposed by US in 1899 under which all nations would have equal opportunities to trade in China.
