West Germany

Definition

Officially known as the Federal Republic of Germany, it was a country in Central Europe that existed from 1949 to 1990 when Germany was divided after World War II. It was considered part of the Western Bloc during the Cold War.

Analogy

Going back to our school analogy, West Germany would be like one half of your split school under democratic administration with different rules, curriculum, and even different recess times than East Germany (the other "school").
