Using censorship to control the narrative

Definition

This involves suppressing parts of books, films, news reports or other forms of media that are considered objectionable or harmful by those in power in order to shape public opinion or perception.

Analogy

It's like a movie director cutting out scenes from a film that don't fit with their vision for the story. In this case though, it's not about artistic vision but controlling what information is available to people.
