Somoza dictatorship

Definition

The Somoza family ruled Nicaragua as a dictatorship from 1936 until their overthrow in 1979 by Sandinista rebels. They were known for their corruption and brutal tactics.

Analogy

Imagine if your school was run by a group of bullies (the Somoza family) who took over student council and used their power to exploit other students while enriching themselves. This went on until a group of students (the Sandinistas) decided they had enough and staged a rebellion.
