Newly Independent States

Definition

Newly Independent States refer to countries that have recently gained independence from colonial rule or from another country. This term is often used in the context of nations that emerged after decolonization in the 20th century.

Analogy

Think of newly independent states like teenagers who just got their driver's license. They are excited about their newfound freedom, but they also face new challenges and responsibilities. Just as these teens must learn how to navigate roads and traffic laws on their own, newly independent states must figure out how to govern themselves, manage their economies, and interact with other nations.
