Juan Sebastian Elcano was a Spanish explorer who completed the first circumnavigation of Earth after Magellan's death during their voyage in 1522.

Think about a relay race where one runner starts but can't finish so another takes over to complete it. That's what happened with Magellan and Elcano - Magellan started this 'race' around world but couldn't finish due to his death, so Elcano took over and finished it.
