Firearms

Definition

Portable weapons that discharge projectiles driven by rapidly expanding high-pressure gas produced by chemical reactions within a confined space.

Analogy

Think of firearms as powerful squirt guns. Instead of squirting water propelled by your finger's pressure, they "squirt" bullets propelled by the rapid expansion of gases from ignited gunpowder.
