Definition

Factories are large buildings where workers manufacture goods or operate machines processing one product into another.

Analogy

Think of a factory as a big, busy kitchen. The raw ingredients (raw materials) come in, the chefs (workers) use tools and appliances (machinery) to turn those ingredients into a finished meal (the final product).
