Decolonization

Definition

Decolonization refers to the process by which colonies become independent of colonial powers.

Analogy

Imagine if you've been living in your parent's house under their rules for years, but then you move out and start making your own rules in your new home. That's decolonization - moving from control by an external power (your parents) to independence (living on your own).
