Decolonization refers to the process by which colonies become independent of colonial powers.
Imagine if you've been living in your parent's house under their rules for years, but then you move out and start making your own rules in your new home. That's decolonization - moving from control by an external power (your parents) to independence (living on your own).
Imperialism: A policy or ideology by which a nation extends its power by acquiring territories. It can be compared to a popular kid in school who tries to control others around him/her.
Independence Movements: These are movements that aim at achieving independence for some territory that is considered 'occupied' or 'colonized'. Like students protesting against school policies they believe are unfair.
Post-colonialism: The study of the legacy of colonization and imperialism. It’s like looking back at your childhood and understanding how it shaped you as an adult.
