A form of government in which a monarch acts as head of state within the parameters of a written or unwritten constitution.
Think of a constitutional monarchy like a school principal. The principal is the figurehead, but they have to follow the rules and guidelines set out by the school district (the constitution).
Absolute Monarchy: A form of government where the monarch has absolute power among his or her people.
Constitution: A body of fundamental principles according to which a state or other organization is acknowledged to be governed.
Parliamentary System: A system of democratic governance where the executive branch derives its legitimacy from, and is accountable to, the legislature (parliament).
