Imagine you are at a party and want to know if there is a connection between people's favorite music genre and their preferred drink. You can conduct a survey and use a test for independence to see if there is any relationship between these two variables.

Contingency Table: A table that displays the frequencies or proportions of observations for multiple categorical variables.
Degrees of Freedom: The number of values in a calculation that are free to vary after certain restrictions have been imposed.
