Test for Independence

Definition

A statistical test used to determine if there is a relationship between two categorical variables. It assesses whether the occurrence of one variable is independent of the occurrence of another variable.

Analogy

Imagine you are at a party and want to know if there is a connection between people's favorite music genre and their preferred drink. You can conduct a survey and use a test for independence to see if there is any relationship between these two variables.
