A statistical test used to compare the distributions of multiple groups or populations based on one categorical variable. It determines whether the proportions within each group are similar or significantly different.
Imagine you have three different brands of smartphones, and you want to know if they have similar distribution among different age groups. By conducting a test for homogeneity, you can determine if the proportions of smartphone brands across age groups are significantly different or not.
Goodness-of-Fit Test: A statistical test used to compare observed frequencies with expected frequencies in order to assess how well an observed sample fits an expected distribution.
Multinomial Distribution: A probability distribution that describes outcomes when more than two categories are possible.
Proportional Odds Model: A statistical model used when analyzing ordinal response variables with more than two categories.
