Gradación

Definition

Gradación is a rhetorical device that involves arranging words or ideas in ascending or descending order of importance, intensity, or size. It creates an effect of increasing or decreasing intensity for emphasis.

Analogy

Think of gradación as climbing up or down stairs. Each step represents an increase or decrease in intensity until you reach the top (or bottom). Just like climbing stairs can be tiring but rewarding, gradación adds depth and impact to a literary work.
