Aparte

Definition

Aparte is when a character speaks directly to the audience or another character on stage, but it is not meant to be heard by all characters present.

Analogy

Imagine you're watching a movie and suddenly one of the characters turns towards the camera and whispers something secret just for you. That's like an aparte in a play - it's like having insider information that only certain people are aware of.
