Citing

Definition

Citing refers to giving credit to the original source(s) of information used in an academic work. It involves providing accurate references or citations for quotes, paraphrases, data, images, or any other material borrowed from another author.

Analogy

Citing is like acknowledging your friend who helped you with a project by mentioning their name when presenting it. Just as you give credit to your friend for their contribution, citing gives credit to the original authors for their ideas.
