The WISC is an individually administered intelligence test for children between the ages of 6 and 16 that can be completed without reading or writing.
Think of WISC as a multi-level video game designed for kids. Each level (or subtest) assesses different cognitive abilities, and the child's overall score helps understand their mental strengths and weaknesses.
Processing Speed Index (PSI): A part of WISC that measures speed of mental and cognitive processing through tasks like coding or symbol search.
Full Scale IQ (FSIQ): The total score derived from the WISC test which provides an overall measure of a child's intelligence and cognitive ability.
Subtests: These are individual sections within the WISC, each designed to measure specific areas of cognitive functioning.
