Social influence refers to the way in which individuals change their behavior to meet the demands of a social environment. It involves how people are affected by others' opinions, suggestions, and behaviors.
Think of social influence like a chameleon changing its color based on its surroundings. Just as a chameleon adapts its appearance to blend into its environment, people often adjust their behaviors or attitudes to fit into a social situation or group.
Conformity: This is when an individual changes their beliefs or behaviors in order to fit in with a group.
Normative Social Influence: This is when an individual conforms in order to be liked and accepted by the group.
Informational Social Influence: This occurs when an individual conforms because they believe the group is competent and has the correct information.
