In psychology research, response rates refer to the proportion of people who respond out of the total number asked or surveyed.
If response rates were like fishing, then imagine you cast your line (sent out a survey) to 100 fish (people). If 50 fish bite (respond), then your response rate is 50%.
Survey Method: This is a research technique in which information is gathered from a sample of people by way of standardized questioning.
Sampling Bias: This occurs when some members of the intended population are less likely to be included than others, skewing the results.
Nonresponse Bias: This happens when those who respond to surveys differ in meaningful ways from those who do not, potentially leading to biased results.
