Research methods are the strategies, tools, and techniques used to collect and analyze data in psychology. They help psychologists understand human behavior and mental processes.

Analogy

Think of research methods as a toolbox. Just like a carpenter uses different tools for different tasks (a hammer for nails, a saw for cutting), psychologists use different research methods depending on what they want to find out.

Observational Study: This is when researchers observe and record behavior without manipulating or controlling the situation.
