Postconventional Morality

Definition

This is the third level of moral development, as proposed by Lawrence Kohlberg, where individuals make decisions based on universal ethical principles and the concept of justice.

Analogy

Think of postconventional morality like a mature tree. Just as a mature tree has deep roots and can withstand storms due to its strong foundation, individuals at this stage have deeply ingrained moral principles that guide their actions, even in challenging situations.
