Definition

Negative punishment involves taking away something desirable or enjoyable to decrease the likelihood of a particular behavior reoccurring.

Analogy

Imagine your parents take away your video game privileges because you didn't do your chores. The removal of something enjoyable (video games) serves as a deterrent for neglecting responsibilities (chores).
