McGurk Effect
Definition
The McGurk effect is a perceptual phenomenon that demonstrates an interaction between hearing and vision in speech perception. It suggests that what we see can influence what we hear.
Analogy
Think about watching a poorly dubbed movie where the actors' lips don't match with their voices. Despite hearing one thing, seeing something else can change what you think you're hearing. That's similar to the McGurk effect!
